One of the brightest stars shining among the booming trans-Tasman MMA scene, Dan Hooker has taken the next step to put himself right among the top end of the UFC lightweight division. Labelled 'The Hangman', Hooker has a handy knack for finishing his fights - most often by way of his slick kickboxing, but not exclusive of a few submissions. A patchy start to life in the top promotion was put behind the Kiwi as he broke through for his first stretch of consecutive wins, stringing together four between 2017 and 2018 to earn a shot against Edson Barboza. While he was soundly beaten, Hooker won many more fans for his never-say-die approach and would bounce back with big wins over James Vick and Al Iaquinta to remind us of his credentials. A callout for Dustin Poirier at UFC 243 did not see that match-up come to fruition, but Hooker is set to face Paul Felder in the pair's first UFC main event slot at the upcoming Auckland fight night.
