An underrated prospect for much of his UFC career, Thiago 'Marreta' Santos has improved greatly over the the last three years to become a real problem at the top of the light heavyweight rankings. A split decision loss to long-standing champion Jon Jones without a ligament in either knee left in-tact proved as much, with some believing the Brazilian did enough to earn the belt. While that wasn't to be, Santos remains the number one contender in a division lacking in starpower past its champion, meaning another shot may not be far away. Santos' 2019 loss to Jones is the only blemish on an otherwise flawless run at 205lbs, with wins over a wealth of ranked opponents over two divisions making up an impressive resume. Injury and a lack of clear contenders are the only things stopping Santos from adding to that, with rematches against the likes of Jan Blachowicz and Anthony Smith possible match-ups.
